Both Vandemoortele and Oxfam Fair Trade won awards at the Best Belgian Sustainability Reports ceremony. They gained much-deserved recognition for their sustainable efforts!
The IBR (Instituut van de Bedrijfsrevisoren) presented the Awards for Best Belgian Sustainability Reports on 29 November. We went to the awards ceremony with our hopes up, thanks to three nominations for two reports. With great results: Oxfam Fair Trade won the prize for Best First Sustainability Report, awarded by the professional jury.
In the category for Best Impact Sustainability Report, for which the audience present cast the deciding vote, one of our reports won first place as well. Among the large companies, Vandemoortele won the award with their integrated report. Among the other companies for the same category, Oxfam Fair Trade took second place.
During this ninth edition, IBR presented seven awards in different categories. In the two categories for Best Impact Sustainability Report, divided into large companies and other companies, two finalists each got the chance to convince the audience present with a pitch. After voting, the winners were announced: Vandemoortele and De Winning Maatwerk returned home with the award.
In four categories, the professional jury, consisting of academics, economists, journalists, auditors and delegates from the public and social sectors, selected the winners:
Oxfam Fair Trade, Belgian pioneer in fair trade, outlined an ambitious sustainability strategy. For them, fairness and sustainability are inextricably linked. Moreover, it is not yet common practice in the fair trade sector to report on your ESG (environment, social & governance) impacts and efforts.
- Sophie Maeseele, communication consultant at Pantarein
We are delighted that we managed to set the bar very high right from the first report. The fact that these efforts are also recognized externally is extra nice. The award from the IBR is the icing on the cake in this respect
With this first integrated report, Vandemoortele Group anchors sustainability at the heart of its business. A clear sustainability strategy with clear commitments, targets and KPIs provides the framework for implementing and monitoring ESG progress. Reporting is of great importance to Vandemoortele to give its stakeholders insight into the steps it is taking to play its part in the climate transition.
- Liesbeth Voets, senior sustainability consultant at Pantarein
Vandemoortele has a strong team with the ambition to achieve positive impact. We also take great strides with them every year when it comes to reporting. It is nice to see that the report scored well with the jury and was chosen as the winner by the audience!
