To reinforce the port’s ‘license to operate’ and inspire companies in the port area to become more sustainable themselves
We created a multimedia sustainability report that is both a high-quality reporting tool and an effective communication tool
A powerful report that takes the reader on an online journey, with a comprehensible storyline and clear messages and data visuals
Port of Antwerp wants to be the leading sustainable port of the future. To propagate that ambition, we created a multimedia sustainability report, with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations as our guiding principle.
Every two years, the Antwerp port community reports on its joint efforts and results in the field of sustainable development. The partners wish to propagate their sustainability strategy and inform their stakeholders transparently about the impact of the port activities on the environment.
The Port of Antwerp sustainability report contains more than 100 trends, depicted in comprehensible graphs. The data serve to give the reader a clear and substantiated picture of all the impacts of the port, both positive and negative. We also summarised the most important data and 10 key messages in a clear infographic.
To make the sustainability report as accessible as possible, we added stories and sustainability cases from various companies in the port area: Belgian Scrap Terminal, Indaver, GTI Beveren technical college, the fair chocolate partnership Beyond Chocolate … These testimonials make the storyline of the sustainable port more tangible and create recognition, involvement and engagement among the port stakeholders.
We drew up a content plan to maximise the return on the content of the report. To get the interaction going, we interviewed the CEOs and wrote three ready-to-use articles. These will be the starting point for a consistent sustainability communication. The sustainability report was created according to the digital first principle and integrated into the port website sustainableportofantwerp.com.
Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO Port of AntwerpThis sustainability report is an important tool to share our best practices and inspire other companies. It helps us accelerate the sustainable transition
