Sigma Plan in the spotlights

The Sigma Plan is Flanders' largest water safety and nature project. It protects Flanders against flooding from tidal rivers and boosts nature around the river Scheldt. In this way, our region will be better armed against the consequences of climate change: floods, flooding and drought.

 

Despite its huge social importance, the general public has barely heard of the Sigma Plan. That’s why De Vlaamse Waterweg called in Pantarein. With our thorough knowledge of the climate topic and expertise in public communication, we have been able to lift the Sigmaplan to a higher level in recent years.

Positive impact

The Sigma areas form a protective green buffer that gives space to our rivers. They represent a major upgrade to the surrounding area for residents, visitors, schools, cyclists, walkers and skaters; local businesses such as hotels, restaurants and bicycle rental companies also benefit. All these positive impacts are central to our communication.

Supporting the customer

Over this multi-year cooperation, we have immersed ourselves in the subject matter. In addition to being communication experts, we have also provided comprehensive support to our partner, De Vlaamse Waterweg. We have monitored the press daily, managed the website and social media and followed up communication projects from A to Z with internal and external staff. At the customer's request, our project manager worked part-time at their offices as a point of contact, sparring partner and coordinator.
