Den Berk Délice

Climate-friendly cultivation, harvesting a sustainable yield

Greenhouse operation Den Berk Délice grows flavourful tomatoes and markets them. Its products contribute to a healthy lifestyle, and have their place in tomorrow’s world. At the same time, the company wants to scrutinize the broader framework around its ESG (or Environment, Social and Governance) and gain insight into the areas where it has a real impact. This will allow it to set the right priorities and prepare for the future. Pantarein was tasked with expanding Den Berk Délice’s focus into a full ESG story, in line with the CSRD. Equally importantly, we wanted to create an engaging storyline that Den Berk Délice could use internally and externally to communicate its sustainability efforts. Challenge accepted!

Our client: Tomato cultivator Den Berk Délice

Our challenge: Develop an ESG strategy and narrative for this player in the food industry

Our solution: A CSRD strategy that connects tasty, sustainable and healthy

Quantitative, measurable, transparent

After an intensive process, we developed an ESG strategy with five strategic priorities: the consumption of healthy food, cultivating with the lowest possible impact, a pleasant and safe environment, Den Berk Délice’s innovative DNA, and the value the company places on partner relationships. The strategy summarizes what sets the company apart from industry peers.

The horizon of the ESG strategy is 2030, and this enabled us to align it directly with some of the commitments of the CSRD. Each strategic priority also contains clear commitments, making the strategy quantitative, measurable and transparent to all stakeholders.

A tasty narrative

To help those stakeholders pick up the ESG story even more smoothly, Pantarein’s studio poured the strategy into an engaging storyline. A key visual highlights the heart of the matter: the five priorities. Together, these form the crown on the tomato: the star of Den Berk Délice. Tasty, healthy and sustainable!

“We are happy with our ESG strategy, because it articulates and visualizes well what Den Berk Délice stands for. The storyline is the right tool with which to bring our strategy to life, both within and outside our organization.”

Coordinator for Purchasing and Sustainability at Den Berk Délice

Now that the ESG strategy has been established, we can get to work. Pantarein’s creative colleagues will turn the ESG template into a brochure and also prepare a slide deck. Through a gap analysis, our consultants will determine the next steps for the ESG report. In spring 2025, we will publish Den Berk Délice’s very first sustainability report, which will in turn lay the foundations for the company’s first full-fledged CSRD report.
