The IBR (Instituut van de Bedrijfsrevisoren) presented the Awards for Best Belgian Sustainability Reports on 29 November. We went to the awards ceremony with three nominations for two reports. And we came back with great results: Oxfam Fair Trade won the prize for Best First Sustainability Report, awarded by the professional jury.
Our reports also won a prize in the Best Impact Sustainability Report category, for which the audience present cast the deciding vote. Among large companies, Vandemoortele took home first place with their integrated report. In the ‘Other companies’ category, Oxfam Fair Trade took second place.
During its ninth edition, the IBR presented seven awards in different categories. In the three categories for Best Impact Sustainability Report, divided into large companies and other companies, two finalists each got the chance to convince the audience present with a pitch. After voting, the winners were announced: Vandemoortele and De Winning Maatwerk went home with gold.
The professional jury, consisting of academics, economists, journalists, auditors and representatives from the public and social sector, selected the winner in four categories:
Oxfam Fair Trade, a Belgian pioneer in fairtrade, outlined an ambitious sustainability strategy. For them, fairness and sustainability are inextricably linked. Moreover, it is not yet common practice in the fair trade sector to report on your ESG (environment, social & governance) impacts and efforts.
We are happy that we succeeded in setting the bar incredibly high right from the very first report. The fact that these efforts are also recognized externally is particularly nice. The award from the IBR is the icing on the cake in this respect.
With its first integrated report, Vandemoortele Group anchors sustainability at the heart of its business. A clear sustainability strategy with clear commitments, targets and KPIs provides the framework for implementing and monitoring ESG progress. Vandemoortele attaches great importance to reporting, in order to give its stakeholders insight into the steps it is taking to play its part in the climate transition.
